Experienced players

Experienced player are so addicted at they become problem players. If you ever get a feeling that your decisions are pushing you into the deep pit, just quit without a thought. Do not gamble more money if you do not have the capacity of losing it. To stay away from being a problem player you should not play poker for more than 10 hours a day. This has been proved by many researches. If you don’t get the game in one go; it’s alright. It may take you more than one time to familiarize with the game. Don’t panic if you don’t get it right. But my advice for beginners would only be to play safe. If you are not an experienced player, do not bet high. Learn and then play on high stakes. You
should be clear with the concepts of lose and tight players. If you have more hands, but your have an inclination for playing with a fewer hands, you may never be able to fold. This way you will play lose. But in case you have fewer hands, but you decide all out with weaker hands, you will probably fold. This is known as tight play. Do not bluff or semi-bluff if you opponent is playing lose. There are fewer chances that he would fold. With time and practice, you will master the game without any problems.

Manage your funds well. Winning poker requires a good combination of playing right and managing the money well Play keeping your bankroll in mind. You should know when it is enough and you should throw your cards then. If you feel you can afford any more money, call to see your opponent’s cards. Raise the pot. When ever you raise, your opponent might thing you have better hand.  But do not exceed the limit of your budget. Make it a rule of thumb. High stakes can ruin you if you lose. Poker is highly unpredictable. You will never come to know who has the best cards between you and your opponent. You will have to change your game strategies from time to time as per the requirements of the game. Bluffs can lead to big wins at times. But bluffing is not advantageous at all times. So you will have to be very careful, even while bluffing.Always believe in intelligent quitting. You should have a good idea of when it is right for you to quit. If you are an experienced player you will come to know if you have a losing game ahead. But some times it is the other way round.

You may go the other way round. There is a specific opposite to buffing in poker. It is called slow play.  This means that you bet really low even when you have excellent cards in hand. This way your opponent will get an impression that he is winning over you. You will eventually let them increase their bet to a great extent. During the end of the game, reveal your identity and you can win with higher bets. Find you your wrong moves; even you have won the game. You must have made some wrong moves. Wrong moves will help you learn a new lesson and develop a new skill. Also learn from you opponent’s moves. Make good play records. There is no clear-cut strategy to winning poker. Believe in yourself

Posted by admin On March - 14 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Believe in your self. It is said that every time you play as if you knew what your opponent’s cards were, you always gain. Similarly every time, your opponent plays differently, as you would have played those cards, you again gain out of it. These lines are very well said. In fact concepts like bluffing and slow playing are based on these lines only. Do not just take them as quoted words. Read them, comprehend them and ponder. If you will put this strategy into application, there is no way that you can lose. Bluffing can be good sometimes. This is a wonderful deception strategy. You can fool your opponent by playing real hard.  Even if you have poor cards in hand, do not let your opponent know about it by playing low. Bet high to deceive him. You can also play semi bluff to your opponent. It consists of betting real high in hope of some good cards in future. You may get better cards in next round. This can be risky also. Your strategy can work against you in case you don’t get good cards. If your opponent has enough funds to raise your bet, you can be crushed badly.

Calling can also help you to limit the loss

Posted by admin On February - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Calling can also help you to limit the loss. It can make you lose equality on funds contributed to the pot. Calling is a good method to cover up the hand’s strength. In case you have strong hand, you should smooth call in your early betting round. This will make you avoid giving up of your strength, in want of getting more money into the pot at some point in later rounds. Calling can also make you manipulate your Pot odds. This way, you will be making opponent to act behind you and call more constructive pot odds. you will most probably be expected to have a better hand to play in opposition to your opponent who has previously opened. You would also be expected to have a more powerful hand to stay in the pot where your rival has yet not acted. This is because of the improbability of information. You would not come to know if any players are involved in the pot or whether you are required to re-raise or not. Limber up your play at once, if you feel you are short handed. This is because your opponent may have a strong hand as a result of less number of people. Your bets might go high for the same reason. Such bets are called as forced bets.

You can also raise in order to get a free card

Posted by admin On January - 16 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

You can also raise in order to get a free card. This is when you raise with a drawing hand and when your opponent checks you on the second betting round by giving you a free card to recover his own hand. Raising can also lead you to gain more and more information. If you raise with uncertain hand, you will gain your opponent’s hand information.  This will give you a fair amount of idea about his strengths. You may use this in your opening bet or in the later round. Raise if you feel your own hand is the second best.  If you try to drive out your opponent’s worse hand, you may add to the predictable value with higher probability of winning. Incase your opponent is betting before you with an obvious drawing hands, you should raise the player behind you. He may have a superior hand to fold rather than calling the game. Similarly, you should call only when there is a requirement. The biggest reason to call is to avoid any sort of re-raising. When you have a drawing hand with correct pot odds, you should call to see more cards.
